Charles Choe
Lead Pastor

Bio

Charles is the Lead Pastor at Tapestry LA Church. Wanting to use his ransomed life for God, he attended Fuller Seminary and graduated with his Master of Divinity (M.Div). Upon graduating, Charles entered the pastoral ministry preaching and leading God’s people with a great desire to see changed lives. Charles joins Tapestry LA with 20 years of pastoral ministry experience. Charles and his wife Grace live in La Crescenta, California and have three children: Chloe, Noah, and Camden. While Charles has a hectic schedule, he manages to follow his favorite sports teams: the Lakers and the Dodgers. His utmost desire is to proclaim the glory of God as he endeavors to be driven by the Gospel and the Holy Spirit.

David is the Executive Pastor at Tapestry LA Church. He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies at California Baptist University, and continuing his studies in Theology, completed his Master of Divinity at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. David and his wife Hajin live in the South Bay. In their free time, they enjoy watching movies, going to Disneyland, and fostering kittens. They are passionate about God’s people and ministry, both here and overseas. Living each day under God’s grace, David and Hajin are eager to be used as a pathway of blessing to those around them.

James is the Discipleship Pastor at Tapestry LA. Born into a pastor’s family, he also sensed call into ministry at a young age and completed his theological education at Biola University (B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies) and Talbot School of Theology (M. Div). James and his wife Elisa have one child, Harper, and currently live in Downtown Los Angeles. In their free time, they enjoy watching Korean-dramas and visiting new coffee shops. They are passionate about the local church and hope to serve faithfully.

Aaron is the Cell Pastor at Tapestry LA Church. He first sensed a call to pastoral ministry in college soon after first experiencing the redemptive love of Christ. He completed his theological education at Talbot School of Theology (M. Div) and loves to walk alongside friends in local church ministry. In his free time, Aaron enjoys reading, rooting for the Dodgers and Lakers, or going to concerts and cinema with his wife Jenn.

Joon is the College Pastoral Intern at Tapestry LA. He is currently attending seminary at Talbot School of Theology for his Masters in Divinity. He's in love with Jesus and enjoys building relationships with the Church. In his free time, he's hosting friends and family for coffee pop-ups or omakase dinners at his apartment!

Sherine is the Missions Pastor at Tapestry LA Church. Sensing a call to ministry, she was blessed with the opportunity to serve in ministries such as Youth for Christ, Student Christian Movement that further grew her desire to partner God's work in the local church. Sherine graduated from the Master’s College with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Communications, and Fuller Seminary with a Masters in Theology. She is currently pursuing a PhD program at Trinity Divinity Theological Seminary. Sherine was born in Lebanon and raised in Sri Lanka. She is a passionate fan of cricket, rugby, tea time and dancing! Above all, her desire is to partner with God’s redeeming and restoring work in the lives of the families in the city of Los Angeles.

Sam is a PK and has served the Lord in Denver, NorCal and predominantly in the LA area. He graduated from Talbot Seminary with a MDiv in Missions. Sam loves seeing when people have their "AHA" moment when knowing about Jesus turns into passionate surrender and intimacy. Sam co-founded a non-profit that helps people recover from compulsions by journeying with people through their past trauma and shame. Sam is a “soul golfer”and loves to travel.

Grace is the TapKids Pastoral Intern at Tapestry LA Church. She made her decision to respond to a call into ministry while completing her undergraduate degree at UCLA, and is now attending seminary at Talbot School of Theology for her Masters in Divinity. Grace has a passion for worship as well as a bursting heart of love for children in the Kingdom of God.

Alejandro is the Missions Pastoral Intern at Tapestry LA Church. Alejandro was born in Mexico and was raised in Southern California. Since his radical conversion, Alejandro has sensed a call to pursue ministry. He intends to study theology and grow in his knowledge of the Word. His deepest passion is to be a vessel for God’s work and share how radical the love of God is.

Joe Lee is the Worship Pastoral Intern at Tapestry LA Church. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science at UCLA and is now currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Talbot School of Theology. From an early age, he always had a passion for worship music and songwriting, ultimately sensing a call into worship ministry in 2023. In his free time, Joe is usually visiting a local coffee shop, catching a movie at the theater, hanging with friends and family, or writing music with Common Gathering a worship songwriting ministry. His lifelong mission is to cultivate free and authentic spaces of worship while leading others to behold Jesus with awe and reverence.

Gene is the Youth Pastoral Intern at Tapestry LA. He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He attended University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in Business Administration (B.S.). Upon graduating, Gene sensed God was calling him into a season of surrender, leading him to pursue pastoral ministry. He is currently receiving his theological education at Talbot School of Theology (M.Div) and growing a deeper passion for the next generation of Jesus-lovers. On his free time, Gene enjoys playing sports, spending time with his nephew, and being a human with friends.

Kim co-leads Sports Ministry at Tapestry LA Church with her husband, Ivan. She grew up playing three varsity sports - basketball, volleyball, and track & field - and still tries to actively play when she can. Kim loves that sports can help build community quickly and challenge each person to be more Christlike in competitive environments. In her spare time, Kim loves visiting national parks, watching zombie movies and bad rom-coms, and playing board games.

Hanna is the Restoration Center Director at Tapestry LA Church. She has encountered countless times where God has turned her sorrows into joy and transformed her wounds into strength. Thus began a passion and pursuit to love and counsel the lost, broken, and hurting. Hanna graduated from UCSD with a BA in Psychology. Wanting to impact the inner-city youth, Hanna obtained her Single-Subject teaching credential from Point Loma Nazarene University. However, a growing desire to go deeper with individuals, particularly in counseling, led Hanna to pursue her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at USC. Hanna has served Tapestry LA since its conception, alongside her husband, Ben Lee. They have two rambunctious, vivacious boys, Aidan and Jacob, and are in hopes for a little girl to bring some estrogen and balance into the family.

Stacy is the Family and Marriage Director at Tapestry LA Church. She attended Wheaton College where she double majored in Anthropology and Elementary Education and minored in Bible. Right after college, she served in Honduras for 3 years working as a teacher at a bilingual school as well as serving the street kids of Tegucigalpa. Since returning from Honduras, she taught 4th grade in Los Angeles and completed her Masters of Science in Education Instructional Leadership at Mount St. Mary’s University. She is currently studying at Fuller Seminary to receive her MA in Theology and Ministry. Stacy and her husband Diego have two children Olive and Milo, and they have served Tapestry LA since its conception. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and traveling in her free time (if lucky, all 3 at the same time.) But above all, she is passionate about being part of God’s redemptive story as He restores our broken world unto His glorious self.

Scott serves as the Restoration Center Coordinator at Tapestry LA Church, where he finds deep fulfillment in supporting individuals on their journey to healing. His commitment to this calling led him to join Gospel Care and pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. An avid worshipper and singer, Scott is dedicated to seeking the heart of God in all aspects of his life. He has been happily married to Libby for eleven years and is the proud father of energetic twin boys, plus another lively boy. Scott is also passionate about pickleball—so much so that his motto is, "I can’t. I have church and pickleball

Jennifer is one of the Restoration Center Leads at Tapestry LA Church. Jennifer holds a BA in Sociology and MA in Social Work. Jennifer is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is the owner of her psychotherapy practice. Jennifer really embraces the lyrics "Break my heart for what breaks yours" and truly has seen God's love bring healing in her own life as well as in others. Jennifer is excited to be a part of a ministry that exemplifies God's compassion and redemption. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys working out and spending time with her husband Stefan, and her cute husky, Winter.

Esther is the Inner Healing Lead and leads the Intercessory Prayer Team at Tapestry LA. She works as an administrator at an University by day and serves to see hearts set free by the power of the Holy Spirit by night. She finds joy in a good cup of coffee and a book, but her greatest joy is when she is praying with and for others.

Ivan co-leads Sports Ministry at Tapestry LA Church with his wife, Kim. Ivan grew up playing several sports, such as soccer, basketball, swim and waterpolo. Ivan believes that sports is one of the best ways to foster deeper and richer relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Ivan loves California burritos, backpacking and bonfires, and hates board games.

Queena is the Worship Lead and one of the worship leaders at Tapestry LA Church. She has been a public school educator since 2003 and currently is an Principal of a span school in Koreatown. She loves to travel and learn about different cultures and languages. She is always carrying snacks with her everywhere she goes.

Shinwook immigrated to the States with his family when he was a teenager. After finishing B.A. in Biblical Study and M. Div at Biola University, he had a privilege to study NT for Th M to serve as a NT professor at theological seminaries in Indonesia. After serving 20 years in Bandung Indonesia, Shinwook and Annie returned to the States in 2019 to be near Annie’s aging parents. They have three adult children: Caris Zeller (married to Jacob), Jonathan, and Bethany. Shinwook is a lifelong fan of the 80’s showtime Lakers.

Austin is the Audio Lead at Tapestry LA church. Born in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle, Austin attended USC studying Computer Science and currently works as a software engineer. Being a part of Tapestry Family and supporting Tapestry Worship, Austin is excited to see God working in the church and the city of Los Angeles. In his freetime, Austin enjoys cooking, music, and watching the Seahawks.

Sung is the Operations Director at Tapestry LA. As a husband and father, an entrepreneur and a cancer survivor, Sung has witnessed firsthand the power of God through the community of Christ's church. He has been given the opportunity to dream again and to reroute the course of his life for His purpose. He is married to Sharon and together, they have 3 children: Joshua, Caleb, and Aerin.

Peter is the Treasurer for Tapestry and is a father of 2 (Aliyah and Malakai). He works in commercial lending and has been in the banking industry for over 18 years. He finds joy in serving the church along with his wife Tina. He believes in the importance of building a gospel centered community through friendship. He loves various sports but baseball is his favorite. He is a diehard Yankee fan.

Jin is our Facilities Coordinator at Tapestry LA Church. Having worked in the fashion industry for over 8 years, he is changing directions and exploring a calling into church ministry. He has been in Los Angeles his whole life and his heart is to serve the people of LA and to foster and nurture the community to know and live out the Gospel. Jin is a die hard Laker & Dodger fan and loves to play sports, specifically basketball. Jin’s heart is to help others experience the forgiveness and grace that he’s experienced in his life and to encourage others that God is so good and faithful.

Jenny is the Administrator at Tapestry LA Church. Married and a proud parent of two active boys, Jenny is all about giving back to the church that has been such a blessing in her life. An accomplished Executive Assistant with 14 years of experience, Jenny has supported high-level executives across non-profits, private equity, and even tech giants in the startup world. She holds a BA in Psychology from UC Riverside. When not juggling church duties, you’ll find Jenny crocheting while getting lost in the latest K-drama or enjoying some quality time with her dog. With a heart for service, Jenny is dedicated to making sure Tapestry’s community can focus on what really matters: worship and prayer.

Felipe is the Technical Director at Tapestry LA Church, and co-leads the Creative Ministry with Alexandra. He was born in Brazil before moving to Southern California and eventually graduating with a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. After many years working as an entrepreneur, photographer, and filmmaker, he felt led to use his creative and technical abilities to glorify God, bless the local community and grow his Kingdom by working in church ministry. Felipe, his wife Monica, and his son Liam, live in Temple City. During his free time, he enjoys binge watching movies and TV shows, and avidly follows his favorite sports teams: Lakers, Dodgers and Rams.

Born in South Korea, Jenna grew up in Kenya as a missionary kid. She graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Business and moved to Los Angeles to work as a professional photographer. Moving to LA, she found new hope, strength, and community in God through Tapestry and recommitted to deepen her love relationship with the Lord. She was called to contribute to His Kingdom through church ministry, where she can exercise her God-given gifts in His service, and Fuller Theological Seminary, where she continues to seek God’s truth and her identity as an artist in Christ.

Doulos helps lead our Sunday production teams and can often be found in the production booth directing our Sunday livestreams. Outside of church he is a producer at a creative agency and is a proud Texas Longhorn.
