Cell Groups

What is Cell?

We hope you will find a community of brothers and sisters who are like-minded in equally loving and pursuing God's word and his Spirit, and yet unique and diverse at the same time seeking to love and embrace one another in radical hospitality.

Our cell groups are closed for the remainder of the cell season (which concludes in May). If you are new to Tapestry and looking to get plugged in, please sign up for any of our upcoming Rooted cohorts. Rooted is a 10-week small group experience that is the on-ramp to cell groups for newcomers at Tapestry. Our spring cohort begins March 17th.

What is Rooted?

Rooted is a 10-week small group experience designed to deepen your connection with God, the church, and your purpose. Together in your cell groups, you’ll explore the Bible, engage in prayer and serve experiences, share stories, and practice rhythms essential to a healthy spiritual life. These spiritual rhythms aren’t new, or something the church recently created, every one of them is found in Acts 2 where the early church began.

Why are cell groups starting with Rooted this cell season?
We would like all TLA members to go through Rooted. Therefore, to have the broadest group of TLA attendees experience Rooted, we will go through it all together during the first 10 weeks of the 2023-2024 cell season starting the week of September 24th as a one-time church-wide experience in our cell groups until the week of November 26th. This church-wide experience will coincide with a 10-week sermon series that follows along with the weekly Rooted topics. After this church-wide season, Rooted will then become the front door to experience community at Tapestry LA. Newcomers can join Rooted groups as an on-ramp to cell groups where they will either become a cell group at the end of 10 weeks or the group members can join an open cell group.

What are the expectations for those who participate in Rooted this cell season?
The ten weeks of Rooted is a cumulative experience so to get the most out of it, we recommend participating in as many of the cell group meetings as possible. The minimum requirement to complete the Rooted experience is to attend seven out of the ten weeks. For this reason, our cell groups will be closed starting October 14th, 2023.

Daily devotionals through the Rooted workbook are also a key part of the Rooted experience. To get the most out of this experience both individually and communally during cell group discussions, we strongly encourage participants to follow along with the daily devotionals.

What if I missed this initial Rooted experience?
If you are joining our church community after October 14th, 2023, we kindly ask that you wait to join a cell group until you have gone through a Rooted Small Group. Registration for the March Rooted groups will open in February 2024. Please refer to the Events page.

How do I purchase the Rooted Workbook?
We ask all cell members to purchase the Rooted workbook for a subsidized cost of $15. Workbooks can be picked up at the Rooted table in the Fellowship Hall starting Sunday, 9/17 until Sunday, 10/8. A digital version of the workbook is also available for $17.99.

Are there scholarships available?
We believe that Rooted is a life-changing experience and we want everyone to participate! We understand that the Rooted workbook fee may be a burden for some and we are happy to provide scholarships. Please email our cell ministry pastor at aaronkim@tapestry.la.
